Would you like to have more detailed information on the preservation and selection of research data? The publicaton ‘Selection of Research Data, Guidelines for appraising and selecting research data’ contains the latest state of affairs regarding this subject. This publication is based on literature studies, several interviews with key players and the experiences of DANS and the 3TU.Datacentre.

Data Management Plan
In order to meet the researchers’ wishes to be able to access practical information with regard to managing, documenting and sharing data at the start of a research project, DANS has drawn up a Data Management Plan. Sources for this plan include the Data Management Plan of the UK Data Archive in the United Kingdom and the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research in the United States.

The publication Preparing Data for Sharing; Guide to Social Science Data Archiving, is aimed at those engaged in the cycle of social science research, from applying for a researh grant, through the data collection phase, and ultimately to preparation of the data for deposit in the DANS data archive, or any other data repository. The publication is intended to help researchers manage and document their data to prepare them for archival deposit, as well as think more broadly about the types of digital content that should be deposited in an archive.
