Rich Internet Publications: "Show What You Tell"

This paper ties a number of advanced forms of enriched publications together into a new genre for which the authors introduce the term "Rich Internet Publication" (RIP), analogous to the existing term "Rich Internet Application". RIPs are not a sharply defined category, but are part of a broad spectrum. The spectrum is ranging from enriched publications that closely resemble the print versions, to complex interactive multimedia presentations that have more in common with a web application than a magazine article. The authors describe this spectrum by means of examples and conclude with a discussion of the production, implementation and sustainability of RIPs.
