War in parliament
References to the Second World War (WW II) shaped political debate in the Netherlands for many decades. However, we have no systematic knowledge of why, how often, when, by whom or from which political party, and in which context, these references were made. “War in Parliament” is a project carried out by the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies (NIOD), the University of Amsterdam, and DANS. The project, funded by CLARIN-NL, wants to bridge the gap between current historical and social science practices and the possibilities offered by using large corpora and language resources. The Dutch Hansard (de Handelingen der Staten-Generaal) between 1930-2010 will be curated and made accessible through an advanced search engine. The enriched data will be stored at DANS, which also plays a role in enhancing support for the so-called persistent identifiers.
