ROA - Coupling between training classifications (2006)

The project ‘Coupling between training classifications’ integrated a number of common training classifications in one database. The development of the database was carried out by the Researchcentrum voor Onderwijs en Arbeidsmarkt (ROA) and financed by the DANS KDP Fund.

This database enables the generation of couplings between the various classifications and conversion schemes, and label sets. This way, comparison of research files from different sources is facilitated.

The subsidy was used for the development of an information system filled with the following training classifications:

  • Standaard Onderwijs Indeling (SOI) of CBS (5 en 6 digit);
  • Centraal Register Beroepsopleidingen (CREBO);
  • Centraal Register Opleidingen Hoger Onderwijs (CROHO);
  • International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED);
  • ROA training classifications;

and for the development of the following functionality of the system:

  • Search function for searching for a code or label within a selected classifications;
  • Search function with which all available information from the other classifications can be displayed for a specific classification code or label;
  • Coupling schemes of any classification into another classification, with which they can subsequently be written as text files and that can further be used in other software applications (for example SPSS syntax files);
  • Possibility to write a label set as text file.

An explanation for the system was written which describes how it is best used.
The grant application was submitted by the Researchcentrum voor Onderwijs and Arbeidsmarkt of Maastricht University.
The database was delivered in June 2007 and can be downloaded at no cost from within DANS EASY.
