Databank Digital Daily Newspapers
The newspaper databank aims to give an important push toward establishing a large-scale data infrastructure. This component in the data infrastructure is intended to stimulate and facilitate new and innovative research within the social sciences and humanities.
Scientific researchers form the main target group of the newspaper databank. In order to serve them properly, insight must be gained into which researchers or groups make use of newspapers in their research. Which research questions do they ask and what requirements does that pose to the newspaper databank. A task for DANS is to chart this.
The project has three objectives
- Obtaining a good view of the researchers or groups of researchers that make use of newspapers as a source for their research;
- Gaining insight into the research questions asked by them;
- Gaining insight in the ensuing requirements for the newspaper databank.
