Costs of Digital Archiving
Digital archives have made considerable progress in recent years. More and more research results and publications are being made available mainly in digital form, and digital archives are much more usable than in the past. At the same time, however, the costs relating to archives are becoming less transparent. The aim of the project 'Cost Determination for Digital Archives' is to clarify the cost structure and develop a model for determining costs.
The model for costing digital archives has been based on economic principles and the knowledge base of DANS and related organisations. A period of three months was set aside for the project, which resulted in a first usable model. As time progresses, the model will be adapted to the latest knowledge and advances in the field.
