Ten-thousandth dataset in DANS EASY
Only recently, it became clear that the ten-thousandth data set has been deposited into EASY, the online data repository of DANS, at the start of November. New sets are added at high speed, as it turns out. The counter is at 12,220 data sets, at the moment.
Many archaeological data sets are currently being deposited. The five-thousandth was expected at the archaeological repository EDNA, a component of EASY, in September. That is partly caused by the retroactive EDNAII project, which stores existing and documented archaeological research digitally and makes them available. It was therefore no surprise that the nature of the ten-thousandth data file in EASY was archaeological: “Een Inventariserend Archeologisch Veldonderzoek in het Plangebied aan de Beatrixlaan te Haren, Gemeente Haren (Gr.)”.
The count includes all data sets entered into EASY, hence also for example test files. When only files that are actually available to (some or all) users are counted, the meter currently stands at 10,907.
