New data mobility survey in DANS EASY

The data of the Dutch Mobility Survey 2008 became available via the DANS archive system EASY last week. The data of the surveys of the preceding years, as of 2004, were already accessible through EASY. In April 2010, the data of 2009 will be added to EASY.

The Dutch Mobility Survey (MON) is conducted on behalf of the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management to obtain information on the mobility of the Dutch: How, where, why and when do they travel? Researchers and policymakers in the area of transport and traffic make use of this information.
The MON is a continuous survey. Daily, data are collected on the transport movement of individuals, such as the reason for the movement, the place of departure and the destination, the transport means and the time. Data about the households are also recorded, such as composition and size, as well as age, sex and education of the travelers. The survey allows statements about all movements with the exception of vacations that begin or end in the Netherlands, and for all inhabitants of the Netherlands except people in care homes.
Owing to an extra quality step, the data of MON 2008 became available slightly later than planned. A separate document is available (also through DANS EASY) that explains this quality check.
