This week, the digital signpost for archives concerning the Second World War officially becomes accessible. It concerns a web site, created by the Netherlands Institute for War Documentation (NIOD) and the National Archives, together with 225 participating archiving organizations.

The web site offers information on the archives and collections related to National Socialism and the Second World War and pertaining to the Netherlands, the Dutch Indies, Surinam and the Dutch Antilles that are present at Dutch archiving organizations. Visitors will not find any archived documents on the web site; it is intended as a signpost to the archives. It is aimed at both experienced and less experienced archive users. The creators of ArchievenWO2.nl designate it as ‘the starting point for research into the history of the second World War’.
DANS is currently finalizing a project within the framework of the program ‘Erfgoed van de Oorlog’ of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport: Getuigen Verhalen. The digital signpost does not yet contain any references to the more than four hundred interviews conducted within that project, but is expected to do so in the foreseeable future.
