Access to Statistics Netherlands (CBS) data
A large number of secured micro files of Statistics Netherlands are available free of charge to researchers at institutes which have been given the relevant authorisation under the Statistics Netherlands Act. Students may obtain access to Statistics Netherlands data if they are also officially employed by their university.
The legally authorised institutes mentioned are:
- Universities in the meaning of the Higher Education Act
- Organisations or institutes for scientific research appointed by law
- The Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis - CPB
- The Netherlands Social and Cultural Planning Office - SCP
- The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment - RIVM
- The Netherlands Institute for Spatial Planning - RPD
- The Statistical Office for the European Communities - EUROSTAT
Researchers working at other Dutch agencies, organisations and institutes may obtain access to Statistics Netherlands data via an official authorisation issued by the Central Commission for Statistics (CCS). The CCS also offers various possibilities for analyzing microdata: On Site, Remote Execution and Remote Access. For an explanation regarding these possibilities, see: CBS microdata.
It is also possible to consult CBS StatLine. StatLine contains statistic information about many social topics and enables users to compile their own tables and graphs. All results are accessible at no cost. Printing or exporting is also without charge.
